Why Collage

I chose to use collage as my main media whilst creating images in my visual journal due to the previous research I'd done into zines. Although it doesn't necessarily align with my research and essay, the use of collage in femzines is something that has been repeated throughout the existence of zines. It was a DIY method of creating imagery that was accessible to all and communicate powerful messages through a collaged format. I feel that developing this way of working will help me create work that is a positive reflection on self-acceptance and body-positivity and that this could potentially be work that sits in a zine based context.
